An exciting Christmas lies ahead for talented young actor Daniel Lee (Y5), who is set to take to the stage as Tiny Tim in Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at London’s Southbank Centre.

He successfully auditioned for the part, learning two songs, a section of the script and how to speak with a Southern American accent in just one week! His audition was clearly superb as he got Dolly Parton’s seal of approval, who was involved in the final say in the casting for this Tennessee version of this classic Dicken’s tale.

Daniel loves both drama and dance, starting in musical theatre aged just four. A Royal Ballet Associate, a regular at Tring Park and part of the dance group Phoenix Boys, Daniel studies nine different dance forms. As he explains, “It’s really fun, and if I put lots of work into it, I know it’s going to be even more fun!”. Daniel is no stranger to theatre either, and his acting skills saw him land the role of the Artful Dodger in another Dicken’s tale: Oliver Twist in July. He was also due to star in a production of A Christmas Carol last Christmas, but sadly the ongoing pandemic put paid to this before the show could open. It is therefore fitting that he now has a second opportunity to appear in this classic tale, albeit with a Tennessee twist and on a much bigger stage.

Daniel is also excited to participate in the school’s House Drama after half term and is hoping to be in the next school production.
