Aryan Sohanpal (Y8), Alonzo Lau (Y8), Thomas Noble (Y8) and Harry Hodgson (Y7) were crowned U13 County Table Tennis Champions after a superb final this week held at Linslade School in South Bedfordshire.

The team of four were in excellent form and breezed through their first match against Challney School without dropping a game. The second match, against an unorthodox team from Robert Bloomfield Academy, was much harder, with their number one and two bringing some stiff opposition. The boys were victorious but had to really work hard for the result. The boys won their group, which placed them in the semi-finals where they faced the runners up of group 1: the hosts, Linslade School.

Excellent performances from all of the boys resulted in another win, but they were pushed all the way by Linslade – each of the boys dropping a leg. However, the boys were feeling extremely confident after the match and ready for the final against local rival Bedford Modern School. And what a final it proved to be for the boys, who were truly victorious after taking the county title with an impressive 7-1 win.

Congratulations to all the boys who showed resilience, determination and skill: they are deserving county champions.
