Progress continues with the Estates Masterplan as we move closer to the commencement date for the Burnaby Road development. A competitive tender was held for the construction contract, and four responses were assessed. The final selection was made in consultation with the school’s quantity surveyors and project managers (Jackson Coles) after two rounds of interviews around highly detailed proposals. The school is pleased to announce that Kier were successful in their bid and have been appointed to work with the appointed design team at Niall McLaughlin Architects to take the project forward. Engaging the constructor at this early stage allows the project to develop with their input, thereby ensuring that the construction programme can be planned carefully to minimise disruption to the school community.

Within the overall Estates Masterplan, enabling works for the new academic building are already underway. Relocation of St Cuthbert’s Day House to its brand new home within the Galbraith Building has already been completed (you can read more about this development here), and work continues on what was George Godber House in readiness for Burnaby House’s move next year. The Burnaby Road development is proceeding with a view to commencement in late summer 2024 and a planned completion date of mid-2026.
