On Sunday 6th October, the School community came together for the Commemoration of Founders and Benefactors. This is an important event in the annual calendar which provides us all with the opportunity to reflect on how fortunate we are to be part of this wonderful institution and to mark its heritage and the generosity of a large number of benefactors over many generations.

The Chapel Service was very special, with the Choir singing an uplifting rendition of  ‘Te Deum’. Thank you to our guest preacher, The Reverend Canon Andrew Clitherow (staff 79-83), Chaplain to HM the Queen, who gave a thought-provoking sermon reflecting on the purpose of the school and of sharing the school’s resources, vision, and values beyond its walls, peppered with anecdotes of his time as a teacher and chaplain here. He concluding with a touching remembrance of departed colleagues and boys.

Following the Chapel service, guests and staff enjoyed a lunch in the Great Hall; it is always a delight to see everybody come together with a large variety of connections to the School stretching over many years.

James Godber (82-87), Trustee of the Bedford School Foundation, thanked everyone for attending and for their support to the school. Gifts of all sizes are much appreciated. Such support has played a vital part in assisting the School’s development plans and in the provision of a comprehensive scholarship and bursary programme.
