It is doubtful that the founders of the Parents’ Guild (originally the Mother’s Guild) would have dreamt that one hundred years later the school community would celebrate the founding of this organisation in such style.

After nearly a year in planning, 400 people, from across the school community, came together at the Guild’s Centenary Ball on Saturday 2nd July.  The Ball was the main event in the Guild’s centenary celebrations, which have been taking place throughout 2022.

The Ball Committee (made up of parents from the Prep Guild and Parents’ Guild) did an amazing job at transporting guests back to an era where style and elegance were the order of the day.  After welcome drinks and a delicious three-course meal, provided by the school’s catering department, everyone danced the night away to the wonderful sound of Hypersonix.  It truly was a fantastic event which highlighted what a wonderful, supportive, and engaged community we have here at Bedford School.

Thanks to the kind generosity of members from our community and local businesses, in providing prizes for a raffle and silent auction, these together raised £9,000 on the night. This money will be divided equally 3 ways, with money going to both the Parents’ and Prep Guilds to fund projects for the boys. The remaining third has been donated to the charity CHUMS which many families in our school community have accessed.

Thank you to everyone who helped to organise the event and to those who supported it by either coming along on the night, or by donating prizes for the raffle or the auction.
