On Sunday 6 February our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) enjoyed their first excursion of the year when 21 cadets and five officers participated in a day of target shooting as part of a Range Day at RAF Wittering.T

he cadets enjoyed a rare opportunity to shoot the L98 Cadet Rifle and, despite the fact that this was the first time for many of the boys, both the quality of the drills and standard of the marksmanship was very high.

After the morning shooting on the outdoor range, the group moved to the DCCT range, a sophisticated shooting training simulator, where they could learn more advanced shooting techniques, such as shooting from different positions.

The cadets participated with enthusiasm, with some of them showing a real flair in this sport. They conducted themselves extremely well and it was very pleasing to see that the early start and poor weather did not faze them at all!

As always, many thanks go to the CCF Officers who gave-up their Sunday to run this event and worked very hard on the preparation that was necessary to allow it to happen.
