Prep boys have been busy building nest boxes for their feathered friends for National Nest Box Week.

Following the Big Bird Watch earlier in the term, boys put down their binoculars and instead picked up hammers and screwdrivers to enthusiastically build the boxes in our DT workshops.

There was some serious concentration on boys’ faces as they pre-drilled holes on the nest boxes, followed by a cacophony of noise as they hammered them together.

The boys will now choose the best trees around the estate for their boxes, which they hope will attract some of the birds they have observed around the estate, including robins, bluetits, sparrows, wrens and finches.

Kian and Nikil (Y5) told us that building the boxes was “quite fun”, and the trickest bit was “putting all the pieces together correctly”.
