Join Bedford School and Bedford Girls’ School pupils for a fantastic musical based on the gangster movie starring Jodie Foster.  This spoof substitutes machine guns that fire whipped cream instead of bullets.

The film was based loosely on events in New York and Chicago during the Prohibition era, specifically the exploits of real-life gangsters such as Al Capone. However, Alan Parker lightened the subject matter considerably for the children’s market, and the film received a G rating in the U.S. Bugsy Malone premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

The musical features many of the iconic numbers from the 1979 film such as Fat Sam’s Grand Slam to Cagey Joe’s ‘So you Wanna be a boxer?’ and a live band will be performing during the production; comprised of both professionals and pupils.

“This musical is ebullient and sassy” Susanah Clapp, The Observer
