A group of ‘Mobros’ pooled their artistic talents to help support this year’s Movember campaign when they designed a pair of boots for Old Bedfordian and England Rugby international, George Furbank (13-15).
Drawing upon the already well-established business ‘twocustomisers’, run by Sixth Form artists and entrepreneurs Henry Cudjoe and Alex Edun, it was fellow MoBro, Jake Pattison, who got in touch with George to discuss their idea. The boys were keen to design a pair of Movember-themed boots to be worn on the ‘big stage’ to help raise awareness and funds for the Movember campaign. Jake asked George if we would consider wearing the boots during a premiership league game.
George, who himself was a MoBro during his time at school, did not hesitate to take the boys up on their offer as well as offering to help the boys auction off the boots after wearing them.
Henry then set about creating a mock-up design featuring statistics regarding men’s mental health before customising the boots that George would play in when Northampton Saints took on Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate on 26 November. The boots must have been lucky as The Saints went on to win 36-20, with George scoring a try in them!

Movember Jordan 1s
Keeping to the theme of custom designing, Upper Sixth Former Laurie Stredwick came up with a similar idea; to customise a pair of Jordan 1s with a Movember theme and raffle off within the school community.
Laurie called upon Henry Cudjoe, Alex Edun and Nickey Lam to design and paint the Jordans. After Alex explored different Movember related ideas, they settled for a literal style conveying the idea of Movember being a time to celebrate men globally, where ‘I’ becomes ‘We’ in relation to isolated men everywhere.
The raffle took place on the last day of the Movember campaign, raising over £300 for Movember. Henry and Alex intend to continue the idea and provide custom boots for Movember every year through twocustomisers, to raise further funds.
