A group of day boys and boarders spent a wonderful evening in Burnaby House on Thursday 20 April celebrating the end of Ramadan and breaking the last fast at a special Iftar event ahead of Eid the next day.

Remove Formers Jibran Baloch and Ali Khan gave excellent talks about Ramadan and their own personal reflections on their faith. The boys learned about what the period of Ramadan really means aside from simply fasting, and some boys were surprised to learn that, in fact, it is a month that the Muslim community look forward to greatly.

The talks were followed by Remove Former Fraser Morgan, who spoke about his admiration for his Muslim friends during this holy month of Ramadan, and the event was compered by Lower Sixth Zach Wasterfall.

Fraser explained, “I especially admire the patience and strength my Muslim friends have through the period of Ramadan; even while they are physically strained, they stay cheerful throughout – something I find really inspiring.”

Following the talks, the boys shared some prayers in Arabic and English. Boys described the atmosphere in the room while prayer was taking place was really special. At sunset, the boys broke the fast with dates and then shared a delicious curry together.
