Last Saturday, the EMH was transformed into a glamorous bingo hall by the Prep Guild.

Wearing a gold sequinned jacket, the professional bingo caller asked for eyes down for the first number. Obediently, heads bowed and dabbers were poised as he called number after number in bingo lingo. “Legs eleven…” and the seasoned pros whistled in response. The concentration was palpable as players competed to be the first to win a line and then to get a full house.

With some great prizes on offer, including a 5-litre bottle of screen wash, a large jar of giant gherkins and a year’s supply of loo roll, the games were highly contested.

On occasions, a bingo round culminated in a draw. The tension was electric as the winning players took part in dance offs, air guitar playoffs and scavenger hunts, in which they had to be the first to fetch items of clothing from fellow players. They threw themselves into the challenges with gusto in order to claim the ultimate victory and secure one of the sought-after prizes.

The music rounds, when nostalgic pop tunes took the place of numbers, were an absolute hoot.  As the bingo caller played the tunes (accompanied by some fabulous choreography from the Prep Guild Committee), players enthusiastically sang along and marked off the songs on their cards.

So much laughter. What a night!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the event. We are extremely fortunate to have such a supportive community who are always willing to have some fun, whilst raising money for the school.  We very much hope to see you at the next event!
