The Nineteenth AGM of the Bedford School Foundation (The school’s fundraising arm) took place online in December.  Members of the School Community and the Foundation have again been extremely generous throughout 2021, by either taking part in the Wellbeing Prize Draw, donating small monthly gifts, giving larger gifts, or leaving legacies in their wills.  Foundation Chair, Lance Feaver (69-74), thanked everyone for their support which had enabled Trustees of the Foundation to distribute funds to support a myriad of different areas of school life.  These ranged from providing bursaries and scholarships and supporting the Music fund, the Art and Sports departments

Many of you will have seen the Head Master’s recent presentation which outlined the exciting proposals for the new academic building which will be built in Burnaby Road.  The development will house Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, and an Entrepreneurial hub, all subjects that will be vitally important in the future job market.  The Head Master shared these plans at the AGM.  Based on current timelines the school hopes to submit detailed plans in late spring with the new building due to be completed in 2025.  Further details of the scheme are available from the Foundation office at foundation@bedfordschool.org.uk

The recent publication ‘A decade of giving and changing lives’ showcases the kind generosity of the broad school community in terms of time and funding.  The Chair highlighted this publication, which is not available online.

The Foundation is governed by Trustees, who are all volunteers from within the school community.  They give up their valuable time to help run the Foundation which then supports the boys and the school.  Two of the Trustees, David Pinkney (78-89) and James Godber’s (82-87) stepped down after sitting on the committee for eight years.  The Chair thanked them for all their help and support and for their immense contribution.

The Chair closed the AGM by summarising the vitally important role the Foundation plays in ensuring the future wellbeing of the school and future generations.
