It was another big weekend for sport for Bedford School on Saturday 6 May – not least because the school had a team of four boys, Alvin Choi, Oliver Medley, Edric Yeung and Leon Zhu, taking part in the Year 10/11 National Badminton Finals at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.

Having battled through the Bedford, county and regional rounds, the boys were determined to play hard, play fair, give it their best and most importantly, be sure to soak up the atmosphere and have fun.

In Round 1, we beat St Olave’s Grammar School by 3 games to 2 but lost to Clayton Hall Academy by 4 games to 1. It was a very tight group with long rallies and only a few points separating the winners from the losers. The team finished in seventh place, having enjoyed playing competitive badminton. The competition provided great experience for the boys, and considering that Oliver, Edric and Leon are Removes, this was a fantastic achievement. We look forward to another attempt at winning the title next year. Well done boys!
