Throughout his life, Roy Freer dedicated his life to painting. He is well known for his work Still Life but he also painted landscape, gardens and people with an equal passion. His paintings, both oil and watercolour, are readily recognisable depicting his use of overlays of colour to investigate light, form and space to catch the essence of his subject.

Roy received national recognition in the form of many prizes and awards and he completed several prestigious residencies and commissions. He showed his paintings in galleries around the UK, especially London, including the Federation of British Artists Gallery and the Royal Academy. This exhibition of Roy Freer’s work comprises work that still remains with his family. Sally Freer and their sons Martin and David are pleased to show these paintings at Bedford School which happens to be close to Roy’s studio in Ashburnham Road where he worked between 1978 and 1988 before establishing his studio in London.

If you are unable to join us on the opening evening, the exhibition continues in the Main Foyer Gallery until Wednesday 18 October.
