The Prep School’s newly formed Debating Society put their powers of persuasion to the test with great success in their very first competition on Friday 15 November.

Against Rushmoor School, the boys debated the motion ‘Taxes should be raised to fight climate change and plastics in the ocean’. Bedford Prep was for the Proposition, and Ellen Punter and Rita Beaumont from the English Speaking Union were the judges.

At the end of the lively debate, the competition was ruled a draw — an excellent start for the boys and the Debating Society. We look forward to hearing more from them.
