Our intrepid Y3 boys set off for a wonderful adventure in time when they headed to the British Museum on Monday 15 May for their topic studies on Ancient Greece.

During the day, the boys enjoyed exploring the museum’s four vast wings, 43 Greek temple-inspired columns, triangular pediment and enormous steps, all fittingly inspired by the architecture of the ancient Greek world.

The boys were fascinated by the artefacts on display, including the Parthenon Marbles, plenty of Greek pottery and everyday items such as toys, medicine and even writing, which helped to bring the topic to life for them. They also looked at the Rosetta Stone, which helped experts learn to read Egyptian hieroglyphs. The boys used their iPads to take photos and record their fascinating finds throughout the day.

And, of course, no trip is complete without a visit to the gift shop – a real highlight for many boys.

The Rosetta Stone was amazing. It was bigger than I expected.

I liked the whole trip there and seeing all the pottery. Also, the gift shop – it had nice keyrings and toys.

Every room was unique and interesting in its own way. My favourite room was the room with the sarcophagus and mummies, but I was careful not to breathe any cursed air in. It felt like I’d travelled back in time.
