And where to find them . . . Bedford Prep School, of course!

This week, we were delighted to meet the latest three additions to the Science department’s ever-growing animal kingdom. Weirdy and Beardy, our striking new bearded dragons and the diminutive, but bold, crested gecko, Camo, are already settling in well and are fast becoming firm favourites with the boys.

Since animals were first introduced to the Prep School just over a year ago, the collection that the boys can study and care for has grown dramatically. It now includes Steve the corn snake, Karma the Chameleon, Echo the Gecko, Chewbacca and Buttercup the Guinea pigs, who along with gerbils, stick and leaf insects, a salamander, tropical saltwater and freshwater fish, and, of course, new additions Weirdy, Beardy and Camo, all live in our Science department.

The calm and friendly animals are looked after by an enthusiastic but gentle army of boys who are part of the Animal Care Club. The boys, with supervision, take care of the animals, helping to feed, groom and clean them as well as enjoying plenty of cuddles with the fluffier ones.

“It is wonderful to see the joy that these animals bring the boys. Through the club, the boys learn all about the animals and their environments. They learn the importance of responsibility while having plenty of fun in the process.”
