We are all very used to hearing about anxiety and stress in teenagers and adults but we also know, through working and spending time with our boys both inside and outside the classroom each day, that boys of all ages can feel worried at times.

We also know that some of the simplest things can be hugely beneficial to general well-being and to that end we have created a special corner in the Inky Library where boys can find peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of everyday school life. The well-being corner is filled with books that offer boys a chance to reflect on any worries and anxieties they may have and find plenty of positive advice.

There are also stacks of things for the boys to colour in. Studies show that when you concentrate on colouring you can let go of any worries and simply focus on the moment, which is a great way to relax and take a step back from challenging situations. Colouring also benefits confidence and self-esteem and lets boys explore their creative side.

This quiet corner is just a small piece of a much larger pastoral support system in place to look after boys’ well-being. Put simply, we want all boys to be healthy and happy, and enjoying life to the full, and we will do all we can to help and support them on their journey through the school.
