Much success was had in the Oakham fixture. The U14 teams are now settling into a rhythm and have enviable strength in depth. There will be tough tests to come but it is shaping up to be an exciting year for all the teams. The U14E team enjoyed their first run out for the Rugby Club, running in numerous tries in an expansive match.
The U15 teams followed suit, big score lines but a more impressive sense of humility was displayed by all during the matches. The most notable achievement came in the U15C team, where Will Barford kicked an impressive eight from eight conversions, which included four from the touchline. Well done Will!
The U16A team lost a close encounter, but it was a great match of flowing rugby and slick play, a team making great strides forwards and playing with more self-belief. The remaining U16 teams also put in good performances to come out on top in their games.
The senior teams had a mixed bag of results. A fairly even match up across the board saw games ebb and flow. The 4th XV agonisingly lost in the last play of the game having had the lead for the entirety of the match. A bitter pill to swallow but a great learning experience none the less. The 1st XV match was a game of two committed defences. Neither team could get close enough to the try line to exert enough pressure to score. However, it was Bedford who exerted the most pressure and were rewarded by three kickable penalties, which they duly took. A fairly comfortable win if not by score line.
