LES MISÉRABLES LAUNCH EVENT – Tuesday 30 April
5.00pm-6.00pm in the Quarry Theatre
“Will you join in our crusade?…” and come along to the launch event of the upcoming autumn term production of Les Misérables, a joint production with Bedford Girls’ School. The event will be an evening of musical entertainment, and will include an informal discussion about the audition process and the project in general. This is an opportunity for any boys who are interested in being involved in the production, whether as musicians, performers or backstage crew, to find out more. Refreshments will be served. Boys should email Mrs Keylock or Miss Boughey to book a place. 
 
WORLD DAY OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY MEETING – Wednesday 1 May 
1.10pm in C1
The Upper School will be celebrating World Day of Cultural Diversity on Friday 17 May, where we want to appreciate the various cultures represented in our school community. If you’re passionate about sharing ideas or facilitating any of the events, we invite you to join us for the meeting. Alternatively, you can reach out to Mrs. Okusanya or Mr. Duffy to express your interest.

All members of the school are invited to this week’s debate ill be the future of conflicts in Middle East. If you wish to participate or would like to know more about the details, please fill in the MS form HERE.
 
ENGLISH PRIZE GIVING – Wednesday 1 May
4.30-5.45pm in the School Library
All members of the school community are warmly invited to our annual celebration of boys’ creativity. There will be chances to read and hear boys’ excellent writing before our special guest, award-winning poet, anthologiser, dramatist, educator, and editor John Greening, will give a reading and take questions. Refreshments will be available. Anyone interested in careers associated with writing, publication, journalism, academia, or communication will find the event particularly useful and enjoyable. PALEONTOLOGY SOCIETY – Wednesday 1 May

Victor Otulana will be presenting the topic: ‘Predatory wombats, giant lizards, and terrestrial crocodiles? Life in Ice age Australia.’
 
SENIOR GEOGRAPHY SOCIETY – Friday 3 May
1.10-1.40pm in D12
If you are in the Sixth Form and are interested in discussing and debating current geographical affairs, then GeogSoc is back on. This week will include a talk from a Lower Sixth pupil on the use of AI technology for predicting natural hazards.
 
ASSEMBLY – Friday 3 May
The Assembly on Friday will be in the CHAPEL and there will be an additional Year Group Assembly for the Remove Form in the Lower Gym.
 
CHINESE SOCIETY – Friday 3 May
1.00pm in C11
Tristan Cooper, in Fifth Form, will be giving a presentation on the history and features of Peking Opera. All are welcome to attend.
 
SIXTH FORM OPTION CHOICES
Some Fifth Form boys will be having a conversation with Mrs Southern to discuss their option choices.  These discussions will be over the next three weeks.  Please can you check your email to see when your appointment is and make sure you turn up promptly B10.
 
DEGREE APPRENTICESHIPS IN 2025
If you are interested in applying for a degree apprenticeship, there are some lunchtime tutorials coming up for you to attend to find out more and to find out what you can be doing over the summer to give you the best chance of success.  If you haven’t already signed up for the degree apprenticeship academy, please sign up using this LINK and you will be sent the sign-up sheet for the lunch time tutorials.

AUSTRIA SKI TRIP – DECEMBER 2024
We are proposing a ski trip in December to the Austrian Tyrol. The trip will depart on Friday 13th and return on Saturday 21st December and is open to all of next years’ upper school students. Previous skiing ability is not required; it’s a great opportunity to learn to ski, as well as progress if you are experienced. Online application forms are available on the pupil portal.
