This weekend, saw the celebration of a very special milestone for a very special OB golfer – Tim Henderson (64-71) is the first OB golfer to take part in 50 matches for the Old Bedfordian side at the prestigious Halford Hewitt Tournament in which 64 Public Schools compete. The tournament is a knockout competition with 10 players from each school playing in scratch foursome pairs.

Tim has a 50% win record in the matches he has played so far…and we’re sure there will be more to come! He has been playing in the event since 1982 and has had a number of golf partners over that time, having played 19 times with Colin Beesley (90-98) in recent years, pictured left in the above photo. To celebrate this milestone, 25 members turned out to honour Tim and present him with a salver as a memento of this achievement (see photo).

After a splendid brunch at Woburn Golf Club, 24 golfers set out to play a new competition for the “Henderson Trophy” over the Duchess Course in wonderful autumnal weather…the first winner of this trophy was Henry Wilson (04-11). Iain Pratt (83-93), pictured right in the above photo, came up with the idea of organising this splendid day and Colin Beesley is the current Captain who organises the Halford Hewitt side.

If there are other OB golfers out there who would like to join the OB Golf Society, please do get in touch with Tom Langley-Poole (96-06), the current secretary, at tom.langley-poole@allianz.co.uk
