48 Fifth Form boys are celebrating Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in the Intermediate Physics Challenge with an impressive 14 boys awarded Gold.

This national competition encourages the study of physics beyond the curriculum and recognises excellence in young physicians. Organised by the British Physics Olympiad and Oxford University, it aims to test physics knowledge and encourage students’ wider interest in the subject.

The boys sat two half-hour papers with traditional problem-based questions to test understanding and problem solving skills.

Mr Alex Watson, Teacher of Physics said after the challenge, “I was very pleased that all of the participants achieved a medal certificate, including 14 of the boys achieving Gold. This exceeded considerably the number of Golds expected based on the national average. This is an excellent demonstration of the curiosity shown by Bedford School students, and a great reflection on their desire to achieve.”
