Making a gift from the USA

Tax deductible contributions can be made to The British School and Universities Foundation (BSUF). Grants are made by the BSUF at its sole discretion as required by the IRS, but donors' expressions of preference are respected (contributions made directly to an offshore charity do not qualify for a tax deduction under the IRS).

Therefore, when transmitting your donation, please express your preference for Bedford School Foundation using this form, but not on your cheque, which should be made payable to The British Schools and Universities Foundation.

Please send your completed form and cheque to The British Schools and Universities Foundation. If your employer has a Matching Gift program, they can provide you with a form which you can complete and enclose also.

Name a Seat at the New Theatre

Bedford School Foundation is delighted to offer the opportunity to be part of the theatre by naming a seat, and have extended the deadline for submitting the donation form. Your donation to the project will be acknowledged by the name(s) of your choice being inscribed on a seat plaque in the new auditorium.

Naming a seat for a family member will be a wonderful way to give a lasting gift. And it is fantastic to know that I am also supporting the performing arts both at the School and for the town

- James Godber, Current Parent and Old Bedfordian (82-87)

Naming a seat makes the perfect birthday, anniversary or wedding gift. It is a unique and personal way to mark a special occasion, remember a loved one, or celebrate someone dear. Colleagues, relatives or friends could club together to recognise someone special or record an individual’s association with the School.

Plaques can be engraved with the name(s) only, or prefixed by 'Donated by', 'A gift for' or 'In memory of', for a maximum of two people, or a family name, e.g. 'The Smith Family'.

Click the link below to download the form to make a donation for your seat, and for more information.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a scheme used by charities and donors to reclaim tax on charitable donations. Through the Gift Aid scheme, if you are a UK taxpayer, Bedford School Foundation is able to claim an extra 25p per £1 donated - at no additional cost to you. Please make sure you make a Gift Aid Declaration when making your donation.

Use the calculator below to work out how much your donation will be worth to Bedford School Foundation.

If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim further tax relief when making your tax assessment. You can reclaim the difference between the basic rate of 20% and the higher rate of either 40% or 45% (depending on whether you are a 40% or 45% higher rate taxpayer, respectively). The table below shows this.
