Young Musician of the Year 2024

Young Musician of the Year 2024

Our instrumental and singing prize competitions came to a suitably fitting finale on Wednesday 1 May with our Young Musician of the Year competition concert, which was held at St Andrew’s Church in Bedford.

Our most talented musicians performed to a congregation of staff, parents, boys and local members of the church, filling the congregation with beautiful music all in a bid to be the Bedford School Musician of the Year 2024.

In this much anticipated annual event, boys, who earned their places at the event by winning the House Music Prize Competition in their respective sections, treated the audience to solo performances from both the Junior and Senior Prize Competitions in strings, woodwind, brass, piano, organ and voice.

Director of Music Mr Jonathon Sanders explained, “The evening was a wonderful celebration of music and featured all of the upcoming talent in the Music Department here at Bedford School. The overall Junior winner was Fourth Former Isaac West (clarinet) and the Senior Young Musician of the Year was Lower Sixth Former Alexander Olleson (violin), who played an evocative performance of Aaron Copland’s Cat and Mouse.”

Congratulations to Isaac and Alexander, and to all the talented musicians who put on a splendid concert.
