Over the last two weeks, the Y8 Post-Exam Programme has continued in earnest, with boys honing their first aid skills, enjoying some bushcraft in our outdoor classroom, and even participating in mock trials.
Last week also saw the final of their Entrepreneurship Competition, which showcased the boys’ creativity and innovation as the teams pitched their exciting ideas for developing Box End Park to its owners, Mr and Mrs Barbour, and Mr Everitt, our Entrepreneurship Lead in the Upper School.
Their exciting proposals included the addition of Aqua Gladiators (Gladiators on water) and water rugby, mountain biking, paintball, an outdoor cinema on the water (no seats, just rubber rings!) and archery tag.
After the teams’ impressive pitches, Mr Everitt praised the boys, saying, “I’d like to do all those ideas.”
Mr and Mrs Barbour added their own praise after being impressed by the boys’ “great enthusiasm and great ideas.”
However, there can only be one winner, and that was 8N with mountain biking. The judges explained, “The whole business plan is realistic in terms of timeline and finances. Outstanding branding: bright, vibrant, eye-catching and brought through well into the presentation, which was of high quality. This activity and branding would integrate well into our site and our existing marketing.”
The winners of the ‘Come Dine with Me’ competition were also announced. Congratulations to 8KD on their simply superb French-themed evening.
In the final week of term, it was time for the boys to head off on one final Prep School trip: a suitably action-packed and fun PGL. Click here for more on their adventures.
On Thursday, boys had even more fun as Mr Guest organised a suitably silly ‘Silly Sports Day’. Tug of war, blindfolded and water balloon races followed with much hilarity and great-natured sportsmanship, a true sign of the boys’ brilliant friendships and camaraderie.
We wish all the Y8 boys the very best as they step up to the Upper School for their next adventure – one they are ready and equipped for.
