Y7 Explore Codebreaking at Bletchley

Last week, 40 Year 7 boys enjoyed an incredible trip to Bletchley Park, the famous location where codebreakers worked during WWII.

The boys went on a guided tour, learning about life at this top-secret location and the crucial work done during the war. They explored displays and exhibitions in Block B, discovering the history of Bletchley Park, including its Enigma collection.

During a brilliant coding session, they learned about the importance of the codebreakers’ work to the Allies and how the Enigma machine worked. They even had the chance to use an actual Enigma machine!

They also tried their hand at a Morse code challenge, where they listened to Morse code, deciphered it into text and used a code breaker to uncover the message’s true meaning, much like the codebreakers did.

It was a fun-filled day of learning about history, languages, computing and maths, all explored through the exciting world of coding.
