Our Y4 boys had a truly fabulous day at Whipsnade Zoo on Wednesday 14 May 2021, on their first school trip of the year.

It was a real treat for the boys who enjoyed excellent close encounters with fabulous animals, stunning bluebells and beautiful views over South Bedfordshire thrown in for good measure. Bedford Prep was also the only school on a trip to the zoo that day, so they felt as though they had the place to themselves.

During the day, the boys studied many animals, from impressive elephants and rhinos to a whole host of feathered friends, including the ever-popular penguins. The boys’ newfound knowledge will be put to good use in the coming weeks as they apply it in their science lessons.

Thank you so much to all the parents who met us at Whipsnade to help us for the day, the staff who accompanied the boys and Mrs Carrington, who planned the day to a tee—even down to the perfect weather!

The boys, as ever, exhibited excellent behaviour throughout the day, so much so that they received many positive comments from members of the public, asking which school they were from, saying how polite the boys were and particularly how thoughtful they were around other visitors. Well done, boys!

All in all, it was a simply superb day out to the zoo and a wonderful taste of the ‘old normal!’
