Y3 and Y5 Boys’ Ickwell Adventures

Y3 and Y5 Boys’ Ickwell Adventures

During the opening weeks of the new school year, each year group heads out to our conservation reserve, Ickwell, for an action-packed day full of activities.

Our Y3 boys were delighted to be the first to head out into the wild on Monday on their first school trip.

The boys built dens together, working on their teamwork skills, and toasted marshmallows for smores, which they enjoyed with hot chocolate. They went on a minibeast hunt, climbed trees and tried out hammocks. The boys ended the brilliant day with a singsong around the campfire.

It was wonderful to see them throw themselves into every activity and see lots of smiles, happy memories made and new friendships cemented.

Y5 followed in their footsteps on Tuesday. They, too, enjoyed a wealth of activities in their classes and with their tutors to foster teamwork and build friendships.

The Y5 boys brilliantly displayed plenty of our Future Skills as they went on a mini beast hunt, learned how to light a fire safely, played archery tag (with foam arrows!), built survival shelters and, most importantly (to the boys), made and ate smores!

Over the coming days and weeks, all the remaining year groups will also enjoy fun-filled sessions at Ickwell.
