Mark Ledsom (80-91) who studied German and English Literature at Bedford School has put his learning to good use with the publication of his first book – a modern English translation of the classic German children’s story Max & Moritz. Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, the book tells the darkly humorous tale – in rhyming couplets – of two extremely mischievous boys and the terror they wreak on their bourgeois village, before coming to a sticky end themselves. The book is available from Amazon in both print (http://amzn.to/1XuoS30) and digital (http://amzn.to/1QaNDM3) editions – with the original text also included for speakers (or learners!) of German.
