Another ‘lockdown first’ took place on Friday 7 May 2021, when the Prep Parents’ Guild held a virtual wine and cheese evening.

Sarah Abbott, Master of Wine and Bedford School parent, presented three intriguing wines from the ‘road less travelled’, supplied by local independent wine boutique, The Blue Glass on St Peter’s Street, Bedford.  

An informative and enticing tutored tasting session over Zoom took participants from Georgia to Lebanon and, lastly, to Turkey. We sampled the wines, imagined glorious vineyards and learnt about the grape varieties and wine processes along the way. As well as the wines, a generous selection of British Artisan cheeses supplied by Franklins Farm Butchery and Delicatessen proved the perfect accompaniment.

All in all, the event succeeded in bringing the community together, with around 150 people from across the Prep School year groups taking part.
