On Monday, in line with the latest guidance around the coronavirus, we had to make the sad decision to cancel many school events and activities, including the theatre performance of our Prep School production this term. However, what could have been a disappointing time for our boys was turned upside down as the idea of ‘The Wind in the Willows: The Film’ emerged.

Re-energised by the news that all their rehearsals, hard work and costume fittings, as well as the stunning set in The Quarry Theatre, would be seen by their families, albeit, on film, the boys redoubled their efforts.

All this week they have been busy performing in front of the video camera. The boys, we are pleased to say, have been brilliantly enthusiastic as well as patient with this new process. Over Easter, the film will go into the editing studio and should be ready to show boys and their families early in the summer term.

Thank you to all the boys, and especially the staff, who went (and are still going) the extra mile to make the film a reality.

As ever, everyone pulled together as a community – strong, kind and supportive – and we hope that they will be as proud of the result as we are of them already!

“We are exceptionally proud of the way the entire cast has responded to filming the production. Their focus, patience and talent have shone through and the raw footage suggests that the production will be a magical viewing experience for all. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our boys on their endeavour, integrity and resilience; I could never have imagined a film would be the end result of this project, but as a team, we are immensely proud of what the boys, and crew, have achieved in such a short space of time, and under exceptional circumstances.”
