The Geography Society hosted a lecture on Wednesday 2 December by Dr Matt Disney, lecturer of Remote Sensing in the Geography department at UCL. The lecture was entitled ‘Weighing Trees with Lasers, a New Look at Old Forests’  and considered the importance of understanding the carbon content of trees to predict the impact of climate change, land use change, drought & fire. An audience of over 50 Geography students and staff enjoyed hearing about Dr Disney’s work using lasers in Brazil and French Guiana.
