On 8th to 10th May, a number of national and local events took place to mark the seventieth anniversary of VE Day. We would be very interested to hear from any Old Bedfordians who were involved in these events, or helped to organise them. As part of these celebrations the Channel Islands marked the anniversary of their Liberation in 1945. On this day our thoughts were particularly with Victoria College in Jersey as we remembered that thirty four boys (aged 7 to 17) were evacuated off the island and spent the majority of the War at Bedford School. With the end of the War in 1945 they were able to return home, and to be reunited with family and friends – though they did have to complete their exams and wait to the end of term in late July!
Later this year in September the OB Club will be making special trip to Jersey and hope that you may consider joining us. More information and a booking form can be found here.
