We are proud to partner with Bedford Hockey Club, England Hockey and the Cambridge Talent Academy. Our links with Welsh Hockey also offer exceptional pathways for players of all ages.
Year-Round Hockey Programme
Bedford boys enjoy hockey throughout the year, with pre-season training, indoor and outdoor fixtures in winter and spring, mid-week summer leagues and overseas tours.
Specialised sessions, including 1-on-1 and small group skills, penalty corner techniques, goalkeeping training and tailored strength and conditioning (S&C) programmes, ensure continuous improvement in skills and athletic abilities.
A Wealth of Expertise
Our full-time staff, led by Director of Hockey Mark Ramage (Former Senior Welsh International and Welsh Masters player, New Zealand Youth Teams, former Wales U16, Boys and Girls U18 Head Coach, current Welsh U18 Boys Head Coach) and Lee Hogget (Bedford Hockey Club Men’s 1st Team, National League player), bring a wealth of experience and expertise.
Boys also receive expert coaching from specialist external staff:
- Peter Rattu (Level 3 England Hockey Coach)
- Arron Butterworth (Bedford Hockey Club Men’s 1st Team, National League player and Youth Development Coach)
- Alexa Wilson (County and Regional youth player, Bedford Hockey Club Ladies’ 1st Team, National League player)
Fixtures and Tours
Our U18, U16, and U14 teams compete in England Hockey Tier 1 and 2 national competitions. A full calendar of block fixtures allows boys from the 1st XI to the U14 D team to play against top hockey schools, including Uppingham, The Perse, Oakham, Merchant Taylors, Felsted, Oundle, The Leys, Repton and Stamford.
We offer pre-season hockey for all players, and regular European tours and matches to prepare for the competitive season. A tour to South Africa is planned for 2025, and past tours have included Holland and Germany.

Our generous Sport Scholarships are available to boys who demonstrate outstanding sporting ability and potential for future development in one or more of our four major sports of rugby, hockey, cricket and rowing or golf.
