Individual creativity is a vital part of education at Bedford. Our art department is focused on developing each boy’s individual artistic talents and encouraging pupils to engage with and appreciate the world around them.
We encourage boys to develop a lifelong appreciation of the creative arts with visits to museums and galleries, annual study tours abroad, weekly life drawing classes and a series of art lectures. We also showcase pupils’ own work in the school foyer gallery.
The annual Detweiler art competition also provides an opportunity for all pupils to share their creativity with the wider school community. Our thriving art appreciation society regularly invites outside speakers to our lectures to discuss different ways of working.
All boys also benefit from the art school’s exciting set of studios for painting, printmaking and sculpture, plus the art library, lecture theatre and computer suite.
