The Bedford School cohort of August 2017, our current Upper Sixth, have studied a mix of reformed and legacy A Level subjects, or the IB Diploma.

Reformed A Level Subjects for which boys were entered for AS Exams

Our boys took AS exams in Summer 2016 in the following reformed subjects:

  • Art
  • Biology
  • Business Studies
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • History
  • Physics

The results from these AS levels were certificated in August 2016.

Reformed A Level Subjects for which boys were NOT entered for AS Exams

Bedford School policy was not to enter boys studying English Literature A Level for the reformed AS Exam in Summer 2016. They have been internally assessed, and will be certificated as a linear A Level in August 2017.

Unreformed A Level Subjects for which boys were entered for AS Exams

Our boys took AS exams in Summer 2016 in the following unreformed subjects:

  • Chinese
  • Classical Civilization
  • Drama and Theatre Studies
  • Design Technology
  • French
  • Further Mathematics
  • German
  • Geography
  • Government and Politics
  • Latin
  • Maths
  • Music
  • Music Technology
  • Religious Studies
  • Spanish

It is Bedford School policy not to certificate these unreformed AS Levels. These subjects will be certificated as A Levels in August 2017. Boys grades in these subjects are therefore currently recorded as ‘Pending’, although we often refer to their ‘virtual’ grades in references.

Boys taking the IB Diploma

None of our IB boys took externally assessed exams in Summer 2016. As is usual with the IB Diploma, boys will only obtain a certificated grade at the end of their linear course in July 2017.
