The Bedford School cohort of August 2018, our current Upper Sixth, have studied a mix of reformed and legacy A-Level subjects, or the IB Diploma.

Unreformed A Level Subjects for which boys were entered for AS Exams

Our boys took AS exams in Summer 2017 in the following unreformed subjects:

  • Classical Civilization
  • Design Technology
  • Further Mathematics
  • Government and Politics
  • Maths
  • Music Technology

It is Bedford School policy not to certificate these unreformed AS Levels. These subjects will be certificated as A-Levels in August 2018. Boys’ grades in these subjects are therefore currently recorded as ‘Pending’, although we often refer to their ‘virtual’ grades in references.

Reformed A-Level Subjects for which boys were NOT entered for AS Exams

Bedford School’s policy is for boys studying reformed syllabus subjects to follow a two-year linear course in these reformed subjects; we do not enter boys for an externally-assessed AS exam in these subjects at the end of the Lower Sixth. Boys have only sat internal end of year examinations in the following subjects, therefore:

  • Art
  • Biology
  • Business
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Drama and Theatre Studies
  • Economics
  • English
  • French
  • Geography
  • German
  • History
  • Latin
  • Physics
  • Music
  • Religious Studies
  • Spanish

These subjects will be certificated as a linear A Level in August 2018.

Boys taking the IB Diploma

None of our IB boys took externally assessed exams in Summer 2017. As is usual with the IB Diploma, boys will only obtain a certificated grade at the end of their linear course in July 2017.
