Our
U9 Hockey team enjoyed a superb day at Felsted School and, against the odds,
won the tournament.

After
a slow start, with three goalless draws against Barnardiston Hall, Thorpe Hall
and Alleyn Court, the team knew they had to win their last two games to qualify
for the semi-finals – and they did.  The boys eventually found a way to
finish off their good attacks, to beat Avon House 1-0 and, importantly, Felsted
B Team 3-0 to come second in the group on goal difference!

Their
superb finish to the group stages set up a semi-final with a strong Kings
College side.  After absorbing a tremendous amount of pressure, a quick
break and excellent cross from Sammy Inman down the left was met by Ben Coomber
to put the boys into a 1-0 lead! They then had a long three minutes to hold on
and defend heroically to gain their place in the final.

In
the final, they faced Allen Court – again. Another superb interchange and
attack, this time down the right, resulted in Dylan French skilfully finishing
off, and the boys saw out the game to win the competition.

Special
mention must go to the defence and Felix Beckmann in goal; in seven games they
did not concede a single goal. Well done to the whole team on the skill,
determination and ability to learn and adapt as the day progressed.
