We recently reported that cricket in general across the whole school is reaching great levels in competition this year. For our U17 team, excitement is mounting following their seven-wicket win over Trent College in the National Schools U17 Cup on Tuesday 19 June.

Good bowling and fielding from Bedford School restricted Trent to 104 in a T20 match which had all the atmosphere of the Indian Premier League. Michael Wells, Gus Miller and Tom Blythman fell early but we witnessed another professional performance from Harry Gouldstone (57 not out) and a cameo from Rahul Sheemar – who guaranteed a comfortable win with more than three overs to spare.

The team will now play Shrewsbury at home in the semi-final.
