Congratulations to the U16 Hockey squad who secured their place in the next
stage of the National Indoor Hockey competition with a strong performance at
the regional finals in Ipswich on Thursday 4 February 2016.

Report by U16 Captain Alfie
Orchard

We started off with a physical
encounter against Bishops Stortford Collage in which we started well, going up
2-0 early. Bishops Stortford came back into the match but we managed to secure
a  comfortable 3-1 victory.

Our second match was against
The Leys. We started well again, with an early goal, and played some great
hockey. The final score was 3-0 with a very good performance from all.

Our third game was against a
very small but technical side from Norwich. This time, we didn’t start very
well and went down 1-0 early. However, the boys were resilient, and we fought
back to draw 1-1, with a good goal from Ben
Roworth,  despite thinking that we should have won.

Our last game was against
Felsted and, unfortunately, we didn’t start well again going down 1-0 early on.
We began to grow into the game, and Charlie Axford scored two superb reverse
stick goals from our well crafted short corner routine to go 2-1 up. They
started to pile on the pressure during the second half, and it told as some
tired legs, who had played 120 minutes of hockey that day, slipped up, and they
equalised to draw 2-2.

However, two wins and two draws
were enough to see us win our section and progress through to
the next stage of the tournament: a triangular tournament on the 8th March,
where the winner and best runner-up go through to the national finals in
April.

Thank you to Mr Herring and Mr
Adams for taking time out of their very busy schedules to accompany us up in
Ipswich.
