A good crowd turned out on Friday 28 April to support Bedford School XI v Wellingborough School 1st XI. A few Sixth Form boys helped create a great atmosphere by volunteering to DJ and the school’s Instagram Story followed the game closely.

Bedford School came out on top of this enjoyable encounter. Bedford batted first and set a challenging total of 173. There were good contributions from Gay and Sheemar, both scoring 38 runs apiece; they were backed up by Denton, scoring 24, and the Captain, Tomlinson-Patel, with 23. In reply, Wellingborough managed to get 112, falling short by 61 runs.

The key performers with the ball for Bedford were Rennie (2-12) and Sheemar (2-12). The two pace bowlers, Comfort and Wingfield, also bowled with good rhythm and control.

Looking forward to the next round!
