The Prep School was eerily quiet this week, but for a very good and exciting reason: the boys and their teachers were all out and about enjoying some incredible adventures in our annual trips week.
Years 3 and 4
Our youngest boys heeded the call of the wild as they embarked on an exciting overnight bushcraft adventure. During their action-packed two days, the boys had fun with camouflage, learning how to blend in with their surroundings, and acquired crucial first aid skills, which were promptly put to the test in an SOS situation. We are pleased to report that no one was hurt, and the boys’ performance was brilliant. Their teamwork and quick thinking in the simulated plane crash scenario were superb, and their ‘injured’ teachers were cared for very well.
There was also time to explore the natural world on a nature walk (discovering fascinating facts about flora and fauna along the way), play a variety of outdoor games, build cosy dens, toast marshmallows and design tribe flags representing unity and shared experiences – it was great to see these flying proudly.
It was a trip filled with learning, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences.
Year 5
Ickwell was the wild location for our Y5 boys, who enjoyed bushcraft adventures and teambuilding at our fabulous nature reserve before heading to Shuttleworth for an education in all things aviation and then on to Box End Park for some serious water sports fun.
Year 6
Y6 boys enjoyed a fun-filled trip, camping out in the beautiful woodland setting of Phasels Wood, participating in adrenaline-fuelled outdoor activities and learning bushcraft skills. From high ropes to archery, crate stacking to scavenger hunts, the boys showed remarkable resilience, courage and real team spirit – and had great fun in the process!
Year 7
Y7 boys had a brilliant time at PGL in Osmington Bay, experiencing dragon boating at the home of Great Britain’s Olympic sailing team, a 200m zip wire, climbing, abseiling, archery tag, problem-solving, a campfire and a PGL tournament. Phew!
All the activities allowed the boys to have fun, conquer fears, support and encourage others, and ultimately work as a team. As always, the boys were a real credit to their families and school, and we received many positive comments from the PGL staff. Well done, boys.
Year 8
Y8 boys also enjoyed PGL fun, this time at Boreatton Park. Their action-packed week included everything from axe-throwing to high ropes, fencing to ziplining, rifle shooting to giant swings, and more.
The camp was a superb experience for the boys, building resilience, enhancing friendships and adding to an already brilliant Y8 post-exam programme.
