The Prep School 1st XI won by ten runs on Monday 12 June in an exhilarating game against Northants U13 CCC.

After a slow start and some early wickets, Bedford Prep recovered from 45-4 to post 165 runs off their 35 overs with superb knocks in the middle order from Nick Challacombe (32), George Mansell (42) and Charlie Blythman (20).

In reply, Northants got off to a strong start, and after 18 overs they were 86-0 and well set to chase down the remaining 80 runs. However, two quick wickets after drinks slowed their run rate.   Despite a steady flow of wickets and some excellent bowling from Raoul Flora, Zaid Faleel, Vedant Somal and George Mansell the run rate continued to creep up.  During the very tense last ten overs Bedford Prep held their nerve to secure a superb win.

An exciting match and great preparation for next week’s quarter-final of the National Cup against Prestfelde School.
