We were hugely honoured to welcome the Two Steves, aka Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore, to the Prep School on Tuesday 21 November 2017 for their very last public performance together.

However, it was far from a sad day – indeed, the only tears shed were those of laughter as the two authors had both boys and teachers in stitches during their three highly entertaining and inspiring sessions.

Y3-Y6 found out just how fun reading could be when they played a hilarious game show in their sessions, using the I Hero books (and other superheroes) for inspiration. We must say a big well done to all our ‘Captain Scoreboard’ volunteers who were brilliant.

Y7 and Y8 boys found out all about ‘How to be an Author’.  In their lively and interactive session, the boys learnt how to use their vivid imaginations (just ask any of the boys about demented ostriches and dinosaurs!), their own experiences and real-life adventures in their stories.

While it may have been the last visit for the Two Steves, we are looking forward to seeing Steve Skidmore again very soon as he will be returning on a regular basis as our Patron of Reading; to further inspire and, no doubt, entertain the boys.

Remember: when you write a story, it’s the one time in your life when you’re in total control. You can do whatever you want, and you can’t be wrong! Never stop writing!
