It may still be 11 weeks and five days to Christmas but nine boys from Y6 have been busy producing this year’s design for the Headmaster’s Christmas card.

Tasked with creating artwork based on the festive song, ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, each boy realised their design as a linocut, which was a technique new to all of them. They learned to transfer their design onto a printing block before cutting it with lino-cutting blades – a process that took most of the day! The last hour saw all boys learn to control ink and use an etching press to pull their prints. Impressively, every boy produced a clean copy of their design on their first attempt and, apart from some sore fingers, all enjoyed their day!

We will unveil their finished design in the next few weeks, ready to get you in the mood for Christmas!
