Talk Education Review: Bedford Prep School

Talk Education Review: Bedford Prep School

We were excited to welcome Talk Education to Bedford Prep School at the start of the academic year. Talk Education offers a free guide to the best independent schools to help prospective families find the right one for them, and they pride themselves on creating “fair, expert, objective overviews”. Their comprehensive review of Bedford Prep School was hugely positive, and we are delighted to share it with you.

“We were struck by what a happy place it is – when we visited, there was a real buzz rippling through the bright and airy buildings, with boys handling snakes in the science lab, charging around the rugby pitch and devouring books in the library – and with most boys moving up to the Upper School with no Common Entrance to stress about, it offers an all-through education parents can feel confidence in.”

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE REVIEW

“This high-achieving prep is consistently at the top of the leaderboard in academics, sport, music, drama and technology. It shares the same pride among pupils, parents and staff as the senior school, and there is a strong sense of community and camaraderie.”

“He’s [The Headmaster] a great believer in teaching to the top, where lessons are pitched to stretch the most able pupils with those lower down given careful support. He tells us it’s amazing how the boys rise to the challenges they’re given. He and the staff are constantly tweaking learning – not just in pursuit of higher results, but also to ensure the pupils are getting a good experience.

“Kindness underlies everything, making the school a really happy place.”

“The academic pace is rapid, but no one is left behind. Indeed, most exceed expectations, and many leave with scholarships.”

“The [art] work on display was of a really first-rate quality, and the boys clearly love the opportunity to get creative.”

“Science club is particularly popular, partly because of the impressive number of reptiles living in the vivarium in the science department – snakes, chameleons, tortoises, even a bearded dragon. The boys can earn a zoology badge by helping to care for them.”

“It’s [Eagle House] a lovely, light and welcoming, purpose-built house located right next to the main prep school buildings. There’s a great family atmosphere.”

“We like the quiet confidence of this all-boys school that delivers a perfectly rounded education to its pupils. The fact that it’s single-sex means boys can be boys for longer and teaching styles adapted to suit. And with the upper school on site, children and parents alike benefit from a reassuring continuity.”
