This year’s Summer Bands Concert certainly lived up to its name as the music played to the backdrop of a gloriously sunny summer’s evening. We can not think of a better setting and farewell concert for Mr Malcolm Green, Head of Woodwind and Brass, who will leave Bedford School after an amazing 37 years of service.

Headlining the concert was the School Band, who performed pieces including The Jungle Book, a James Bond medley and music by Freddie Mercury and Dvořák. Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean made for their splendorous grand finale.

The School Dance Band, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble also featured, performing an eclectic mix of pieces.

We were heartened to see the Bedford School community come out in full force to support the event, including a large number of Old Bedfordians, who themselves were taught by Malcolm. Congratulations to all involved; it was a truly magnificent event and fitting farewell concert.
