Success on Track and Field at District Athletics

Talented young athletes from across north Bedfordshire gathered at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium on Wednesday 5 June to represent their schools at the 2024 District Athletics Championships.

Bedford School’s team was made up of 24 boys who competed in various events both on the track and field. An enjoyable day was had along with some great successes with our junior boys winning by some margin and our intermediate boys coming a strong second.

We also had several gold medallists, with Fourth Formers Hamish Timmins and Zayaan Bukhari double gold champions. Some boys have qualified to represent the district at the county finals on Wednesday 12 June with a chance of going on to compete in the England Schools Championships.

Hamish, who also rows for the school, told us, “I felt delighted and relieved after the wins and I’m looking forward to the County Finals next week. I didn’t do much athletics until I came to Bedford School a year ago and I now train at a club called Dacorum in Hemel Hempstead.”
