Bedford School Sixth former Adit Shah is celebrating
after being awarded the top award for the best overall essay in the prestigious
Staton Essay Prize for 2015.  The theme for
this year’s interdisciplinary
essay competition
was ‘Freedom’, and Adit’s insightful and intelligent
essay which discussed ‘Should people be free to do whatever they like as long
as they so not harm others’ was a clear winner with the judges from Regents
Park College, University of Oxford.

Adit will attend a special Awards Dinner at the college later this term to
receive his prize of £250.

About The Staton
Essay Prize

The Staton Essay Prize is an interdisciplinary essay competition, open to all students
currently studying in Year 12 anywhere in the UK (or
its equivalent in the EU and internationally).

Regent’s
Park College specializes in teaching and research in the humanities and social
sciences. It has developed a particular expertise in teaching joint honours
degrees and this prize is designed to give entrants the opportunity to explore
connections between the subjects they are currently studying or are interested
in, develop their abilities for independent research, and encourage them to
apply for undergraduate courses that may be interdisciplinary.
