What better way to herald the end of a triumphant term than with our annual St Cecilia’s concert. On Wednesday 4 December around 400 people gathered in the Great Hall to listen to our showcase concert given by all of the major ensembles including the Orchestra of the Ouse, Chamber Orchestra, New Jazz Collective, Big Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and the Bedford School Symphony Orchestra.

Over 120 boys took part in 14 different arrangements ranging from Larsson’s Concertino for Trombone, The Raider’s March from Raiders of the Lost Ark, and highlights from the musicals Wicked and West Side Story.

Also on the playlist was a wonderful rendition of some of Queen’s legendary tracks including Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

The concert finished exuberantly with an energetic arrangement of Colas Breugnon’s Overture performed by the Bedford School Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Director of Music Joss Sanders. Music ignited the Great Hall and delighted the audience in a wonderful display of the boys’ musical talent.

A retiring collection was taken in aid of The Musical Instrument Fund and Gigs 4 Kids.
